Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and implement individualized care plans for each patient using the nursing process. The role requires adherence to the standards, policies, values, and mission of the organization while practicing within the established scope of nursing.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on thorough patient assessments to optimize outcomes and utilize available resources effectively.
• Demonstrate prioritization and critical thinking skills, exercising decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Comply with triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines.
• Apply evidence-based practices and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality outcomes and coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual and psychosocial support needs.
• Identify barriers to effective communication, taking into account psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural factors.
• Assess the learning needs of patients and families and provide education appropriately tailored to their age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Effectively delegate patient care tasks to ancillary personnel and may mentor student nurses and new hires.
• Conduct practice according to professional and ethical standards, including the ANA Code of Ethics and state Nurse Practice Act.
• Demonstrate compassionate attitudes and behaviors to foster therapeutic relationships, engaging in patient and family education as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver's license).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening (if applicable).
• Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.

Education, Licensure, and Certification

• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or Compact license (Required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (to be obtained within ninety days of hire) (Required).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (to be obtained within six months of hire) (Required).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (to be obtained within one year of hire) (Required).
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (to be obtained within one year of hire) (Required).
• STABLE certification (to be obtained within one year of hire) (Required).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (to be obtained within one year of hire) (Required).
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (Preferred).

Experience

• Two years of hospital nursing experience (Preferred).
• One year of Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care Nursing experience (Preferred).
