Cognitive Neurologist Faculty Position
Myana
The University of California, Davis, Department of Neurology is seeking a cognitive neurologist for a full-time clinical faculty position in the School of Medicine in Sacramento, CA. The Section of Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology is growing, and we are looking for a colleague who wants to help build a modern, patient-centered clinical program and serve our community. Our work begins with patients. We are committed to caring for people living with cognitive and behavioral disorders and to the community we serve across the greater Sacramento region and the East Bay. We are actively expanding our clinical program for disease-modifying anti-amyloid therapies and preparing for the treatments that will follow them through the pipeline. We have a dedicated, standalone program built around this work, with strong institutional backing and committed investment in its future. As part of the California Alzheimer’s Disease Center (CADC), a clinical Center of Excellence in dementia, we care for patients at sites in Sacramento and Walnut Creek, drawing referrals from one of the region’s largest primary care networks. At the heart of these roles is direct patient care, delivered alongside a collaborative team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff who share the work and support one another. Teaching is part of our ethos, not an add-on to it. We hold a deliberate institutional commitment to being the place trainees want to learn and where faculty who love to teach want to stay. That commitment shows up in the rhythm of our week: clinic-based teaching, didactic sessions, dedicated anti-amyloid therapy conferences, clinical-pathological conferences, research updates, and a range of other conferences shared with the ADRC. We are intentional about building a clinic that is sustainable and well-supported, so that caring for patients, and teaching the next generation to do the same, remains the rewarding center of the work. This role can be shaped, to a meaningful degree, around the interests and strengths of the faculty member who fills it. Truly patient-centered care can include giving patients access to the latest advances: the opportunity to participate in research and to reach emerging therapies through clinical trials. We see research and clinical care as partners in service of our patients, and we actively support hybrid clinical-research roles, scaled to a faculty member’s interests, accomplishments, and available funding. UC Davis Medical Center hosts a federally funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) that provides collaborative and administrative support to associated faculty, including investigator-initiated studies and a robust portfolio of clinical trials. The Department also hosts behavioral neurology and neuropsychology fellowship programs along with multiple mentorship opportunities. While research is not required for the HSCP series, participation in the ADRC clinical research program is welcomed and encouraged. We are equally committed to the people who do this work. We invest in the professional and personal growth of our faculty through continuous learning, mentorship, and a clear path for advancement, within a thriving clinical, educational, and research community centered on the health of our patients. UC Davis is home to a remarkable community of physicians, advanced practice providers, neuropsychologists, social workers, students, residents, fellows, and staff, united by an institutional ethos of learning and growth. We are inviting a colleague to help shape what cognitive neurology at UC Davis becomes, and to build, alongside us, a clinic equipped to deliver the best of what this field can now offer patients and ready for what comes next. Appointment and Series The position is available at all ranks in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) series or the Clinical “X” series; the level of appointment will be commensurate with credentials. Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the HSCP series are expected to demonstrate professional competence and activity and to engage in teaching, scholarly or creative work, and University and public service. Sacramento and the Region The UC Davis Department of Neurology and UC Davis Health teaching hospital are nationally ranked in US News & World Report. The Sacramento region offers an enviable quality of life: more than 260 sunny days a year, an affordable footprint relative to California’s coastal metros, and quick access to the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, and Napa. We think the climate suits us. UC Davis is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and to building a faculty that reflects the community it serves. #J-18808-Ljbffr Myana
