Work Schedule: Day time hours, once fully trained will require working every 3rd weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) Job Responsibilities: In this position you will be conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances. May provide husbandry duties to small and large animals Perform various dosing techniques with small and large animals May perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals Collect biological samples Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc. Maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) Perform medical imaging Monitor for behavior changes Document findings in LIMS Report on any animals concerns to supervisor Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or related program OR Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field OR 2+ years of college in related Sciences field AND 1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation Preferred Qualifications Prior animal research experience Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings Good time management skills AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this! Additional Job Standards: Comfortable working with small and large animals in research environment Flexibility to work overtime as needed Pay: $22/hr. What will you be doing?
