Registered Nurse Emergency Room

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care to patients with a variety of acute medical conditions. This role involves patient assessment, management of dysrhythmias, administration of emergency medications and blood products, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The RN is expected to perform phlebotomy, place IVs, manage central lines, and deliver procedural sedation. Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. At least one year of experience is required, and first-time RNs are accepted. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and monitor patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and administer related treatments.
• Administer blood products, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous IV paralytics, and sedation.
• Perform phlebotomy and start intravenous lines as required.
• Manage central lines and provide care according to isolation precautions.
• Provide procedural sedation and care for stroke (CVA) patients.
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health record system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Float to other units as needed when census warrants.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience; first-time RNs accepted.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Competency in phlebotomy and IV placement.
• Knowledge of emergency department nursing practices including dysrhythmia management, blood product administration, and procedural sedation.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system preferred.

• Experience with continuous IV sedation and paralytics.
• Familiarity with central line care and management.
• Comfort with managing patients requiring isolation precautions.

• Float to other units as census demands.
• Every other weekend work is required.
• Minimal Return to Office (RTO) restrictions.
• Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement for all RNs.

• 7 AM to 11 AM alternating shifts.
• Open to accommodating block schedules, though not guaranteed.
