Pulmonologist / Critical Care Physician

Overview St. Mary’s Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Pulmonologist/Critical Care Physician to join our growing, hospital‑based practice in Amsterdam, NY. We proudly opened our state‑of‑the‑art Pulmonology, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Center in 2024, enhancing our ability to provide comprehensive respiratory and sleep disorder care to our community. This opportunity offers a collaborative environment equipped with advanced technology and the support of a robust network of primary and specialty providers. Position Highlights State‑of‑the‑art facilities – an 8‑bed ICU, sleep labs and advanced diagnostic technology. Minimal call schedule – 1:4 call rotation with nocturnist coverage overnight. Open ICU model – covered by skilled hospitalists during the day for added support. Advanced pulmonary procedures – access to endobronchial ultrasound, bronchoscopy and other state‑of‑the‑art technologies. Large referral base – opportunity to grow outpatient practice on day one. Responsibilities Diagnose and treat a wide range of pulmonary conditions, including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease and lung cancer. Provide high‑quality care to critically ill patients in the ICU, utilizing evidence‑based protocols and advanced monitoring techniques. Collaborate with the Sleep Medicine team to assess and manage sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia and circadian rhythm disorders. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including bronchoscopy, thoracentesis and pulmonary function testing. Work closely with respiratory therapists, sleep technologists and primary care providers to develop individualized treatment plans. Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment options and preventive care strategies to promote optimal health outcomes. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research and continuing education to stay abreast of the latest advancements in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Qualifications Board Certified or Board Eligible physician licensed (or eligible for licensure) in New York State. Preferred: prior experience in pulmonary and critical care settings. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution. Compensation & Benefits Base salary range – $361,078 to $523,906, commensurate with experience.
