Field Support Engineer III

What’s the Role? The Field Support Engineer III will work independently across a designated service territory, installing, troubleshooting, upgrading, and performing preventive maintenance on Carl Zeiss Meditec instrumentation. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair all designated products within the assigned service territory, following training, manuals, and company guidelines. Schedule, create, verify, and modify customer visits based on customers’ needs and the financial impact to the practice. Complete and submit a daily field service report per written procedures in the Field Service reference database. Submit a weekly expense report according to company policies and procedures. Maintain a spare parts inventory per company guidelines and return specific spare parts as designated by policy. Support revenue growth through promotion and retention of service agreements. Communicate with internal and external customers professionally, calmly, and pleasantly. Address difficult customer issues and attain satisfactory results, consistently meeting established customer service levels. Manage territory and control expenses effectively. Assist in training and mentoring new hires. Develop strong relationships with key customers. Represent the business at trade shows by installing and maintaining equipment. Instruct customers on operation and maintenance of equipment. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of related experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics, Electro-mechanical, Optics, Data Management, Networking, or Medical Field Service. BS in Engineering, Electronics, Computer Technology, Computer Networks or a related field preferred. A+ and N+ certifications and thorough knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy preferred. Ability to achieve satisfactory customer satisfaction results at serviced customers. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient computer skills; certifications preferred. Ability to pass required training to service fine mechanics and optics. Effective service of assigned equipment. Strong project and time‑management skills. Experience with several Carl Zeiss Meditec product lines. Thorough understanding of schematics and complex technical data. Basic understanding of ophthalmic anatomy and eye diseases; CCOA certification or equivalent preferred. Self‑directed and results oriented. Extensive overnight travel required by automobile and air. Must travel domestically and internationally for training, meetings, exhibit support, and coverage outside the assigned territory. Must obtain sufficient credit to cover incurred business expenses; reimbursement upon expense report submission and approval. Average of four hours daily driving required. Valid driver’s license and good driving record needed. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking for approximately thirty percent of the workday. Pay may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, and the specialization of talent.
