Shalom Austin is looking for After School Camp Counselors to join our JCamps team. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with children, is dependable and patient, and can create a positive and welcoming environment for kids each afternoon.

Compensation and Benefits  

• We’ll pay you an hourly salary of $15.00-$17.00 per hour , depending on experience and education. 
• No nights or weekend work! 
• Free Dell JCC Membership (pool, gym, tennis courts, exercise classes, etc.). 

Schedule  

2:30–6:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, with the possibility of a 3-day-per-week schedule.

About the Position

After School Camp Counselors work with a group of children each afternoon, leading activities, providing supervision, and helping create a safe and engaging after-school experience.

Counselors are assigned to either our Kindergarten or 1st–5th grade groups, and group assignments may vary from day to day. Counselors work alongside other counselors and are responsible for helping manage the daily routine, activities, and needs of their group.

This position also includes picking up children from local elementary schools using a Shalom Austin 15-passenger van.

What You'll Do

• Drive a Shalom Austin 15-passenger van to transport children from local elementary schools.
• Pick up children from assigned schools each afternoon.
• Supervise children and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
• Lead daily activities, including games, crafts, and projects.
• Help manage the daily schedule and routines for the assigned group.
• Maintain accurate attendance and child rosters.
• Support the emotional, physical, and social needs of children in the program.
• Encourage respectful behavior and positive interactions among children.
• Work cooperatively with fellow counselors and administrative staff.
• Complete daily cleaning and sanitizing of shared spaces, bathrooms, equipment, and supplies.
• Follow all safety, emergency management, and program procedures.
• Help maintain a clean and organized program environment.
• Model respect for children, coworkers, equipment, and facilities.

What We Are Looking For

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred, but not required.
• Valid driving experience and the ability to safely operate a 15-passenger van. Training will be provided before transporting children.
• Patient, dependable, and comfortable working with children in a group setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple activities and responsibilities.
• Positive, professional approach to working with children, families, and coworkers.
• Ability to pass all required criminal history background checks, including an FBI fingerprint check.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. 
• Driving experience is required. You will be trained on driving our 15-passenger vans prior to transporting any children. 
• Possess enthusiasm, patience, a great sense of humor, a strong work ethic, positivity, and the ability to work well on a team and with children. 
• Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check).
