About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Neuro Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience and ability to titrate drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin) Description: Unit supports a fast-paced and high-turnaround environment. Nurses will care for patients with diagnoses including tracheostomy, CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, psychiatric issues, and brain tumors. The average length of stay is 4-5 days. There is a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio. Nurses will be required to complete a skills lab that includes Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Completion of the skills lab is pass/fail, and maintaining a sterile field is crucial. Nurses should be competent in titrating drips. Central monitoring is present, and nurses must be able to interpret EKGs. Nurses will float to telemetry units and telemetry overflow in ICU as needed. There is a weekend requirement of 4 shifts in an 8-week period. Holidays are worked into the permanent holiday rotation. The unit has a nursing aide support system in place. All staff must adhere to a professional appearance standard. The environment requires strong assessment skills and critical thinking abilities. Candidates not confident in their skills may not be a suitable fit for this role. It is essential to maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures. This position includes bedside report.
