About the Position

Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS from AHA only Must-Have Skills/Experience: 1 year Oncology, inpatient only; Medication administration; EMR documentation; Physical assessment. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology. Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and service standards. Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with established guidelines of nursing practice and the Nurse Practice Act. Stand and walk most of the time on duty. Meets unit-specific physical demands. Significant amount of bending and stooping as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, and days of the week according to patient care requirements. High risk exposure to blood and body fluids. Physical demands include push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinching up to 15 lbs., kneeling, crouching, and minimal crawling. Utilizes the nursing process to provide care for patients post trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities. Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and service standards.
