Flight ParamedicExpected start date of 11/16/2026With a workforce of over 100 in communities from Alaska's Aluetian Islands, Yukon Kuskokwim Delta, Coastal South East and Interior Alaska, we give the best air medical crews in the state – if not the country – the opportunity to support critical care patients during transports from rural Alaska to tertiary care centers across the state, major cities in the Lower 48, and internationally.Position DescriptionLifeMed Alaska's Flight Paramedics are responsible for providing direct patient care to patients with complex and involved care needs outside the hospital setting. Flight Paramedics provide care in fixed wing aircraft, ground ambulance, and helicopter. They must always maintain a safe, therapeutic and organized environment and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care. All duties and care provided will be performed in accordance with LifeMed Alaska policies and protocols. All care delivered during transport will be implemented using written treatment protocols approved by the Medical Director, treatment guidelines received from on-line medical control, and sound clinical judgement.A day in the life…Our Flight Paramedics are partnered with talented Flight Nurses caring for patients with a full range of extreme conditions. Transport may take the crew to remote villages, larger cities and hospitals within Alaska, or facilities in the Lower 48. If you are a strategic risk-taker who is able to put the patient first at all times, this may be the role for you.Education and Experience:Minimum three (3) years' Paramedic experience, preferably in a progressive 911 emergency response system with consistent, high acuity patient volumeTwo (2) years critical care experience highly preferredPrevious flight experience desiredLicensure:Current State of Alaska MICP within 90 days of hire; NREMT-P is required to obtain MICP, and will be verified upon hireCurrent BLS, ACLS and PALS certification requiredCurrent and valid Drivers License and Passport requiredNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be successfully completed within 3 months of hire; approved trauma course within 12 months of hire; successful completion of the Alaska State Medevac Course during orientation; must test for FC-P within 6 months of hire and obtain FC-P within 12 months of hire.Other Qualifications:Must be able to effectively demonstrate mastery in the use of monitoring and treatment equipment, including cardiac monitor/pacer/defibrillator, IVAC IV pumps, I-Stat portable blood gas analyzers, transport ventilators, etc. Will maintain skills such as endotracheal intubation, needle thoracotomy, chest tube placement, 12-lead EKG interpretation, and multiple IV drip administration. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment. Must maintain ability to pass repeat background checks and ability to possess an identification badge issued by the base location airport security.
