Anatomic Pathology Manager

Job Summary

Managers are responsible for developing, organizing and staffing area. Directs and supervises all functions and is responsible for the day-to-day operations. Services as a liaison between the clinical and laboratory staff to insure timely and quality diagnostic services. Oversees the educational aspects of the area. Assure compliance with accreditation and licensure of personnel/techniques standards, including but not limited State of Georgia, College of American Pathologists, American Association of Blood Banks and Joint commission of Accreditation of Hospital Organization.

Qualifications:

• Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or related field or equivalent education, training and experience.
• 4 years of Clinical experience required.
• 2 years of Experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
• Certified American Society of Clinical Pathologist - ASCP / NCA - National Certification Agency or Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Health, Education and Welfare

• In conjunction with Laboratory Director and Administrative Director plans and develop the Department and is
• responsible for the management of the department.
• Maintains time reporting system for personnel and approves times reported.
• At the direction of the Laboratory Director or Administrative Director or other supervisor, perform survey, studies and problem solving for departmental functions and systems.
• As indicated, implements work simplification techniques and develops systems to insure efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Responsible for technical functions ensuring appropriate quality control, proficiency testing, instrument evaluation and acquisition.
• Responsible for inventory control, workload documentation and workload efficiencies and for ensuring billing of work performed.
• Develops updates jobs descriptions and employee criteria based performance evaluations.
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, orientation and training of new employees and continuing education of all staff.
• Documents and evaluates employees performance and conducts monthly staff meetings.
• Prepares and maintains policies and procedures manuals for each departmental section ensuring annual review and accreditation compliance and ensures inspection readiness at all times.
• Maintains weekly expense and monthly budget reports. Investigates and rectifies budget variances as required.
• Maintains orderly and up-to-date administrative files and records for the department.
• Additional duties as requested
