Location 26211 Central Park Blvd,Suite 650,Southfield, MI, 48076,United States Employee Type Full-Time Required Degree Masters Travel 30% Manage Others Yes Position Summary The Vice President of Healthcare is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic development, oversight, and sustainability of VOA Michigan’s healthcare and behavioral health initiatives. This role blends clinical systems expertise, operational leadership, program innovation, and people-centered leadership to strengthen clinical infrastructure and expand access to high-quality, evidence-based care. Reporting to executive leadership, the Vice President of Healthcare will oversee behavioral health and healthcare operations, supervise key clinical leaders, and guide both established and emerging programs. The role serves as a key architect of VOA Michigan’s integrated healthcare strategy, ensuring services are clinically sound, operationally effective, financially sustainable, and responsive to evolving community needs—particularly for Veterans and underserved populations. Key Responsibilities Provide executive leadership for healthcare, behavioral health, and Permanent Supportive Housing services aligned with VOA Michigan’s mission and strategic priorities Lead development and enhancement of clinical and healthcare infrastructure to support sustainable growth Drive strategic planning and implementation of innovative healthcare and behavioral health programs Serve as a thought partner to executive leadership on growth, partnerships, and integrated service delivery Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and person-centered care Clinical Infrastructure, Program Oversight & Innovation Oversee behavioral health and healthcare programming, including supervision of clinical leadership staff Ensure programs are evidence-based, trauma-informed, operationally sound, and financially viable Guide development of policies, procedures, workflows, documentation, and quality assurance systems Support integrated healthcare initiatives including behavioral health, substance use, medical respite, care coordination, and housing stabilization Lead program innovation from concept through implementation, evaluation, and scaling Foster a collaborative, mission-centered culture of excellence and professional growth Supervise, mentor, and support clinical and program leadership staff Partner with Human Resources on recruitment, onboarding, retention, and workforce development Promote staff wellness, leadership development, and succession planning Quality, Compliance & Risk Management Provide executive oversight of healthcare quality, compliance, and risk management systems Strengthen quality assurance, performance metrics, and outcome measurement strategies Ensure compliance with Medicaid, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards Participate in organization-wide quality improvement and risk management initiatives Fiscal & Operational Management Oversee healthcare and behavioral health budgets, forecasting, and financial performance Collaborate with the CFO on financial planning, resource allocation, and sustainability Monitor operational metrics to ensure productivity, quality, and fiscal responsibility Support grant development and funding strategies Collaboration & Community Engagement Cultivate strategic partnerships with healthcare systems, behavioral health providers, the VA, funders, and community stakeholders Serve as an ambassador for VOA Michigan, representing the organization with professionalism and mission-driven leadership Promote collaboration that improves access to care and reduces stigma around mental health and substance use treatment Required Education & Experience Education Master’s degree in Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required Clinical licensure in Michigan (LMSW, LPC, LP, or equivalent) strongly preferred Experience Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, behavioral health, substance use services, housing services, or human services Demonstrated experience overseeing complex clinical or healthcare operations and interdisciplinary teams Experience building clinical infrastructure, quality systems, and integrated care models preferred Experience serving Veterans or housing-insecure populations strongly preferred Strong strategic, operational, and systems-thinking leadership skills Deep knowledge of behavioral health systems, integrated care, and evidence-based practices Financial acumen with experience managing complex budgets Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive care Proficiency with EHRs, data systems, Microsoft Office, and reporting tools Full-time position with flexible and varied hours Work conducted in on-site and/or remote office environments Travel within service areas; occasional out-of-area travel Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and meet standard physical requirements Full-time position Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance Generous paid time off (PTO) Mission-driven culture focused on innovation, compassion, and impact Join Us If you are a visionary healthcare leader motivated by building systems, supporting teams, and expanding access to care for Veterans and underserved communities, we invite you to join VOA Michigan and help shape the future of integrated healthcare services across Michigan.
