Road Supervisor Barstow (Temporary)

Pay: $27.00/hour

Temporary: approximately 3 months

Knowledge and Experience

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have a valid drivers license
• Must have a Commercial License (CDL) class B with passenger and airbrakes endorsement
• Must pass a DMV driving record check and maintain clean driving record throughout employment
• Must be able to exhibit excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Must be able to operate iPad cellphone and personal computer
• Must have intermediate MS Office and e-mail experience
• Ability to read write and speak English
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments.
• Ability to work independently and objectively
• Must be willing to have flexibility with schedule and work in a 24/7 environment to include weekends and holidays
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test background check federal finger printing and a DOT physical examination

Core Competencies / Responsibilities

• First line of response in service delivery for incidents and accidents
• Assist operators with on-time pullouts
• Ensure pre-trip inspections comply with performance expectations and vehicles meet appearance standards
• Help achieve maximized on-time performance and productivity through service adjustments
• Make regular observations of operators to ensure high quality service provision
• Support in investigation of passenger concerns
• Respectfully enforce VVTAs policies and procedures
• Observes driving skills and work habits of drivers in the field
• Ensure that all operators are fit for duty meet uniform and equipment standards and are in possession of proper licensing and certifications
• Assist dispatch and maintenance staff with vehicle change outs that occur in the field
• Assist operators with service or passenger problems
• Conduct road observations according to client and local policy
• Monitor street operations for on-time performance and schedule adherence
• Provide feedback to safety and operations departments on service items that affect safety and performance identify potential safety hazards and provide feedback to be incorporated into daily operations procedures
• Follow company safety and operational rules and procedures
• Ability to work under stress and meet strict timelines
• Responsible for onboard evaluations trail checks drive cam and mentoring/coaching drivers
• Monitor pull-outs and service areas
• Vehicle accident investigation

• Long periods (potentially exceeding 8 hours per day) of walking standing sitting bending pushing pulling climbing lifting balancing stooping twisting squatting handling materials repetitive hand-wrist motions and traversing uneven surfaces;
• Exposure to both extreme heat and cold;
• Exposure to loud noises fumes and airborne particles;

In addition to the above demands inherent in every role the following roles may entail unique physical demands including:

• Operators/Drivers may work inside or outside vehicles and may operate vehicles for over 8 hours per day.
• Operations Supervisors and Managers may split their work between an office setting looking at a computer screen/electronic device and active transit field locations driving in a vehicle.
• Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers laptops electronic hand-held devices complex electrical schematics diagnostic software and testing devices and other heavy machinery.
• Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
