Summer Maintenance Technician

St. Ferdinand Catholic Church seeks a dependable and detail-oriented Summer Maintenance Technician (Part-Time, up to 24 hours per week) to support the care, cleanliness, and overall functionality of parish buildings and grounds. This position helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-kept environment for worship, ministry, and community activities. The technician performs routine maintenance, minor repairs, and facility upkeep while working collaboratively with parish staff.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on buildings, equipment, and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting)
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of church, parish offices, classrooms, and shared spaces
• Monitor building systems and identify or report maintenance concerns
• Set up and take down rooms and equipment for liturgies, events, and parish activities
• Maintain outdoor areas, including lawn care, basic landscaping, and debris removal
• Assist with seasonal tasks such as cleaning, light grounds work, and preparation of parish facilities
• Follow safety guidelines and promptly address hazards or repair needs
• Coordinate with staff or vendors when additional maintenance support is required
• Maintain tools, equipment, and supply inventory
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner

Job Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of building maintenance, repair, or custodial practices
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Previous maintenance or facilities experience preferred
• Willingness to support the mission and values of the Catholic Church
• Availability for a part-time schedule (up to 24 hours per week), with some flexibility as needed
• Completion of background screening and compliance with Archdiocese Prevent and Protect STL Safe Environment Program required
