Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 9 months Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 11.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience, 2 years telemetry & critical care experience, 1 year travel experience for travel positions License: NYS RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Tele, Ventilator Must-Have: EPIC experience highly preferred Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care to a designated group of patients. Patient care is delivered by incorporating the principles of relationship-centered care and through the application of the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Assessment and evaluation of patient care needs are done through the application of critical thinking skills in patient care management. Relevant assessment and intervention skills are integrated into the delivery of nursing care. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team occurs in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. All aspects of patient care are prioritized, including teaching, coaching, and planning for hospital discharge while delegating tasks as appropriate. Patients and caregivers are educated about their plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention. Effective communication is maintained with patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. Assignments are managed within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing, ensuring effective allocation of material resources. Quality and safety practices are paramount, with an emphasis on providing safe and efficient patient-centered care. Clinical skills and knowledge essential for quality and safety in the patient population served are demonstrated. Process improvement strategies based on institutional evidence-based practices are implemented. Engagement in both formal and informal peer and institutional review processes is essential. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects occurs regularly. Documentation of nursing practice supports quality and performance improvement initiatives. Charge nurse duties are performed as assigned. Coordination with Clinical Coordinators and Nurse Managers ensures appropriate utilization of supplies. Material or staffing resource deficits are escalated promptly. Patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to care are implemented. Professional image and communication methods that convey respect and compassion are projected. Ethical principles are incorporated into decision-making for patients and their families. Encouragement of a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, and life-long learning is pivotal to the role. Knowledge and skills relevant to the role, patient population, and clinical specialty are acquired and enhanced. Participation in shared decision-making through nursing department committees and unit initiatives is encouraged.
