Admissions Counselor

Location: Boston Campus Position Type: Full time Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Admission, thisposition is part of an admissions unit responsible for therecruitment and admission of undergraduate students. Throughpersonalized outreach, thoughtful application review, and strategicrecruitment efforts, this role helps shape an incoming class ofstudents who will thrive at Suffolk University. The counselor willmanage a recruitment territory, build meaningful relationships withstudents and community partners, and contribute to enrollment goalsthrough a combination of travel, data-informed decision making, andstudent-centered service. What you’ll accomplish in this role: Represent the university both virtually and in-person atcollege fairs, secondary schools, and community colleges (asneeded). Travel and recruit approximately 10-12 weeks between the falland spring semesters. Conduct virtual and on/off-campus interviewswith students and families as requested. Manage a designated recruitment territory and develop strategicoutreach plans to increase awareness, applications, and enrollment. Demonstrate understanding of Suffolk University’s mission andour commitment to diversity and inclusion. Think strategically about your assigned recruitment market andtake a creative, data-driven approach to increase enrollment. Holistically and efficiently evaluate first-year applications.This includes issuing admission decisions and rankings for honorsconsideration or special merit scholarship programs. Counsel applicants, their families, school counselors, andadvisors on Suffolk University’s admission policies andprocedures. Coordinate and implement application generation and yieldprograms in assigned regions. Assist the Welcome Center in conducting virtual and on-campusinformation sessions and programming for students andfamilies. Will be assigned additional project and liaison work asneeded. Being a relationship builder with the ability to engage withprospective applicants, families, transfer advisors, and secondaryschool counselors. The ability to successfully manage multiple priorities,deadlines, and projects while maintaining exceptional attention todetail. Exhibit excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.You are comfortable with both identifying challenges and providingrecommendations for improvement. Proficiency with technology including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,CRM systems (preferably Slate), social media, Zoom, Google Meet,Microsoft Teams etc. Ability to work independently and as part of a team on groupprojects. A positive and team-focused approach to your work with awillingness to go the extra mile. What is required: Bachelor’s Degree Must have at least two years of driving experience and havea valid driver’s license from the U.S. or U.S. Territories .Must submit to an annual driver record check and maintain anacceptable driving record per university and/or insurance carrierrequirements; must complete the University driver safety trainingwithin 60 days of hire and additional driver training asneeded. This position requires the ability and comfort with travelingfor recruitment in the fall and spring, often for extensive periodsof time. This includes frequent driving in a variety of locationsand occasional air travel. Ability and flexibility to work outside regular office hourswith some evening and weekend work. This role is not fully remote and requires the ability to bein-office 4 days per week. Additional remote days are evaluatedseasonally based on office coverage needs. The salary range for this role is $45,000-$60,000.SalaryTransparency Suffolk University provides salary ranges as a good faithestimate of what it reasonably expects to pay for a role at thetime the position is posted. The actual salary offered to theselected candidate will depend on various factors, including, butnot limited to, the position’s scope and responsibilities, thecandidate’s experience, education, training, and applicable legalrequirements. The listed pay range reflects base salary only anddoes not include additional benefits or compensation.
