Core Responsibilities

As a Class A driver, you will operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently while adhering to all Department of Transportation regulations and company policies. Your primary duties include transporting freight to multiple distribution points across a five-state region, including locations in Illinois, Tennessee, and Arkansas. You will be responsible for pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting any maintenance issues, and reporting them promptly to dispatch. During each shift, you will navigate between service territories, including routes to Carbondale, Ashland City, Paris, West Memphis, and Hendersonville. You will arrive at distribution centers on schedule, coordinate with warehouse personnel, and participate in unloading procedures when required. Maintaining accurate logbooks, tracking mileage, fuel consumption, and hours of service is essential to this position. You will communicate regularly with dispatch, providing status updates and addressing any concerns that arise during your route. Safety is paramount in this role. You must maintain a professional demeanor with customers, follow all traffic laws, and demonstrate defensive driving techniques consistently. You are expected to keep your vehicle clean and well-maintained, report any mechanical issues immediately, and participate in required safety training and compliance programs. Your reliability and attention to detail directly impact customer satisfaction and company reputation.

Must-Have Requirements

You must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with a clean driving record and no serious violations within the past three to five years. A minimum of three months of commercial driving experience is required; however, candidates with more extensive experience are encouraged to apply. You must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and medical examination as required by Department of Transportation standards.
