Assistant Professor

Job Summary The Department of Psychology at the University of Mississippi seeks applicants for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology. We are looking for faculty with child‑focused research and clinical interests to further grow our graduate program. We particularly want individuals who can broaden existing departmental strengths by adding expertise in areas such as neurodevelopmental disorders, feeding/eating disorders, developmental psychopathology, and childhood emotional disorders. Child‑focused applicants outside of these areas are also welcomed. Department The Department of Psychology About Our Programs The Psychology Department comprises 30 full‑time faculty members and over 60 graduate students. Our graduate programs include the APA‑accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology. The Clinical Psychology program follows a scientist‑practitioner model of training, with a focus on evidence‑based approaches. The Experimental Psychology program emphasizes behavioral analysis, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology. Faculty collaborate across both programs and have been recipients of the 2021 Donald R. Cole Excellence in Promoting Inclusiveness in Graduate Education. Our department has recently expanded into 22,000 square feet of newly renovated space in the South Oxford Center (SOC), including faculty offices, labs, seminar rooms, and the Psychological Services Center. The SOC is conveniently located near the main campus and offers easy access and parking for community research participants. Job Description Applicants must be committed to evidence‑based practice and must either have completed or be on track to complete a PhD in Clinical Psychology and a predoctoral internship from an APA‑accredited program by August 2027. The successful candidate will develop and maintain a substantive research program that attracts external funding, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, pursue licensure to supervise graduate students, and recruit and mentor graduate students. Minimum Requirements Applicants must be committed to evidence‑based practice and have completed or be on track to complete a PhD in Clinical Psychology and a predoctoral internship from an APA‑accredited program by the time of appointment in August 2027. Education and Qualifications Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (required). Experience Relevant research and teaching experience in clinical or developmental psychology.
