Senior Director of Labor (JD Required) (New York)

Senior Director of Labor, as part of the General Counsel’s Office, is responsible for to oversee Labor relations for employer of unionized employees in healthcare. Responsible for union/labor and employment issues and ensuring compliance with the Company’s obligations under various collective bargaining agreements.

Experience in unionized environments is REQUIRED .

Please note that candidates that do not have experience in a unionized environment will not be considered.

Responsibilities :

• Represent the organization in bargaining sessions, grievances and arbitrations with the union.
• Negotiate and draft collective bargaining agreements and memoranda of agreement, provide advice and counsel regarding applicable collective bargaining agreements and engage union representatives to address employment matters related to unionized employees.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a team of labor specialists who manage employee issues including disciplinary matters, investigations and other labor/employment matters for unionized employees.
• Supervise/monitor the activities of retained outside labor counsel.
• 5 days per week on site required.

Qualifications :

• Law Degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and registered to practice law in New York State.
• Eight or more years of relevant, progressive experience as a practicing attorney in labor relations.
• Experience in healthcare organizations is strongly preferred .
• Labor arbitration experience and negotiation skills.
• Labor and employment law knowledge and experience with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and address a variety of legal issues.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Looking for someone to take a hands-on role within a small but dynamic legal department.

Annual Salary = $180,000 to 220,000.00
