The company is currently self-funded from its commercial operations. ABOUT THE POSITION: We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect specializing in distributed data platforms to lead the design, optimization, and evolution of an on-premises product with a large-scale data ecosystem spanning NoSQL databases (ClickHouse, Cassandra, ScyllaDB) and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MSSQL). This role combines deep expertise in databases with strong systems engineering knowledge across compute, storage, virtualization, and security. As a key member of the architecture team, you will define target-state architectures, establish technical standards, guide performance engineering initiatives, and ensure the scalability, availability, resiliency, and security of mission-critical data platforms. Responsibilities • Serve as a key member of the architecture and design team, defining target-state architecture and guiding engineering teams.

• Experience with data fusion products that integrates data from multiple heterogeneous sources (geospatial, device or external systems) into unified datasets for various consumers.
• Design and review the functional specifications for a scalable, distributed, and high-performance data platform architectures with high availability & fault tolerance.
• Define high level designs for analytical workloads, including real-time and batch processing patterns supporting advanced analytics use cases.
• Review solution designs, implementation approaches, and validation strategies with engineering and QA teams to ensure alignment with architectural standards.
• Define and govern non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, resiliency, observability, security, and maintainability.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts including consistency models, replication, partition tolerance, fault recovery, and distributed query processing.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architectures, distributed messaging systems, Kafka ecosystem components with microservices, containerization and real-time data processing.
• Evaluate, standardize and govern third-party technologies used in the product and understand the value of develop or off-the-shelf for the product.
• Ability to influence technical direction across engineering teams without direct authority.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python or Java to build prototypes, review code design patterns and code security optimizations.
• Define and oversee monitoring, logging, observability and alerting data pipelines.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across data, application, and lead root cause analysis.
• Develop architecture artifacts including high-level designs, architecture decision records (ADRs), reference architectures, and technology roadmaps.

Database • Strong experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling for transactional and analytical systems.

• Design and architect high-volume data fusion platforms and pipelines to combine multi-source datasets using ClickHouse or similar OLAP/columnar databases.
• Define and oversee robust ETL/ELT architectures for ingesting, transforming, and enriching structured and unstructured data.
• Define database architecture standards and guide optimization of SQL, indexing, partitioning, storage design, data distribution and query execution strategies across analytical and transactional workloads.
• Design scalable and efficient data models, including partitioning, indexing, aggregation, and retention strategies to support analytics workloads.
• Enable data analytics capabilities by designing models and pipelines that support reporting, BI, and advanced analytical use cases.
• Deep understanding of distributed database concepts including data partitioning, replication, consistency models, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery

Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related technical discipline.

• 7 – 10 years of engineering experience in on‑prem enterprise environments.
• Experience architecting, designing and operating large-scale distributed databases such as ClickHouse, Cassandra, ScyllaDB, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Druid, Pinot, or similar platforms.
• Strong experience in designing relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MSSQL Server.
• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure including Linux (RHEL), Windows Server, networking, storage systems, virtualization, and security principles.
• Programming experience in Python and/or Java & scripting/automation skills in Bash.
