About the role The Student Program at Nexteer Automotive provides high-potential students with meaningful opportunities to apply their classroom knowledge in a professional setting, gaining hands‑on skills and industry exposure. As a Communications Co‑op, you’ll play a key role in crafting compelling content, planning impactful events, and developing multimedia materials to enhance our brand and employee engagement. This part‑time, year‑round position offers flexibility during the academic year (20‑32 hours per week) with potential for full‑time work during summer and breaks. Key Responsibilities As a Communications Co‑op, you’re also: A Brand Storyteller – Develop engaging content for emails, digital communications, and print materials to promote Nexteer’s brand and culture. An Event Coordinator – Assist in planning and executing site and functional events, including various employee events and the annual off‑site leadership conference, ensuring seamless logistics and an engaging experience. A Multimedia Creator – Design, edit, and publish visually compelling materials across print, digital, and motion platforms, bringing creative ideas to life. Qualifications Strong communication and writing skills. Highly professional demeanor with ability and confidence to interface with all levels of the company—including senior leadership. Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Proficient in Microsoft 365. Preferred experience with multimedia design tools, such as Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects). Bonus skills (not required but a plus): Graphic design, web design, photography, basic HTML, and/or video production/editing. Job Requirements Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, Communication Design, or Multimedia Design. Must have ability to commute to Auburn Hills and maintain full‑time student status (12+ credits during Fall/Winter semesters). Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Available to work 20‑32 hours per week during the academic year, with potential for full‑time hours in summer and breaks. Candidates must have the right to work in the U.S. without requiring current or future sponsorship. Optional: Students are encouraged to submit a portfolio for review.
