English Adjunct

Part‑Time Faculty (Adjunct) – Early College Academy (ECA) Missouri Western State University is accepting applications for a part‑time faculty position in English First‑Year Composition for the upcoming fall semester. Adjuncts will plan and implement curriculum for assigned course(s); effectively communicate class content to students in an online environment; evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes in a timely manner. Responsibilities Adheres to all applicable university academic and employment policies identified in the Employee and Faculty handbooks and academic catalogs. Develops course syllabus for each assigned course, including learning objectives and required university information; distributes the syllabus to campus administration and enrolled students. Instructs the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in the syllabus and catalog, relating instruction to course and academic program outcomes as may be defined by course or program assessment plans. Prepares and grades exams based on course objectives and published scheduled exams, and returns all assignments/graded work in a timely manner. Implements evaluation of outcomes assessments and achieves established results while maintaining college standards and student satisfaction. Submits grades at the appropriate time. Responds to student inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, College Dean, or ECA Director. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (with 18 content‑specific graduate hours in English) Teaching experience in higher education Professional experience in a related area Must be authorized to work in the United States Master’s degree in English or a closely related field Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: We seek a candidate who is collaborative and service‑oriented and demonstrates a strong commitment to building real‑world active learning environments. Physical Demands Physical Demands – Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
