SUMMARY
This evolving position is located in the Operations Division with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD). The employee is primarily responsible for providing programs for youth with specific goals and objectives that seek to education of personal health the project participants.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a summary of the duties and responsibilities commonly found in this classification. All employees must maintain a commitment to the OCCHD's mission, vision, and strategic goals. This summary is not meant to be all-inclusive, this, or other related activities may be assigned. This position functions at the entry level (Tier 1) as defined by the Council on Linkages Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals with integration of all Core Competency Domains. An emphasis on the following domains is important in this role: Communication Skills Community Partnership SkillsESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Work with schools to recognize scheduled classes to teach Teen Health established curriculum. Actively participates in area tasks forces, coalitions, committees, etc., related to Teen Health. Assist in the design and implementation of evidence‑based community projects. Prepare lesson materials needed for each session. Select subject matter and location for adult education sessions with principals and teachers. Work with community groups and coalitions on health‑related projects. Make presentations for community and professional groups. Assist and/or create professional materials (e.g., posters, exhibits, leaflets, brochures and multimedia presentations). Reading and writing various documents such as reports, promotional materials, etc. Gather and compile information. Participate in outreach activities. Provide technical assistance and consultation to OCCHD personnel in developing and implementing preventive health care and health promotion activities. Maintain appropriate confidentiality and follow OCCHD guidelines and statutory regulations regarding the release of information. Attending open houses and/or health fairs to provide information and resource materials, meetings will occasionally take place in the evenings and on weekends. Drives to off‑site locations to perform job duties as needed. In addition, at the direction of OCCHD Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health Officer or designee, the incumbent will be assigned a variety of specific job duties and responsibilities as a member of the OCCHD Emergency Preparedness and Response Program Team (i.e., Bioterrorism Response Program). Also, as a member of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program Team, the employee is required to complete all necessary emergency responder training and may be designated as a member of the first‑responder team. Completes required training in support of duties and responsibilities of this position. In accordance with our designation of a PHAB Accredited health department and explicit commitment to a culture of continuous quality improvement, employees will receive Quality Improvement (QI) training deemed necessary by their supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Training and Implementation experience with Making Proud Choice Curriculum preferred Valid Oklahoma driver license required LEVEL 1: Master's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or Community Health or related field OR Bachelor's degree plus one year of related experience preferred LEVEL 2: Master's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or Community Health or related field, plus one year of related experience OR Bachelor's degree plus two years related experience LEVEL 3: Master's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or Community Health or related field, plus two years related experience OR Bachelor's degree plus three years related experience LEVEL 4: Master's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or Community Health or related field, plus three years related experience OR Bachelor's degree plus four years related experienceSKILLS AND ABILITIES
Skill in communicating verbally and in writing with groups using tact and diplomacy Ability and willingness to develop education and public relations materials Ability and willingness to utilize appropriate equipment Ability and willingness to develop and maintain effective working relationships Ability and willingness to speak in public Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality and to assume responsibility for information disseminated Ability and willingness to follow established policies and procedures Ability and willingness to assume responsibility for work productWORKING CONDITIONS
Primarily indoors in climate‑controlled building No smoking or use of non‑smoking tobacco products is allowed at any time while conducting OCCHD business or in OCCHD vehicles or on OCCHD property No use of cell phones or the use of electronic wireless communications devices used to write, send or read a text‑based communication while driving a motor vehicle on OCCHD business May be subject to occasional standing for extended periods Subject to driving to off‑site locations in varying weather to perform job duties Periodically exposed to glare from computer monitor OSHA category: Performs tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissuesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Arm/hand steadiness and digital dexterity enough to use equipment such as computer keyboard, remote controls, and switches, etc. Vision enough to read and draft written communications such as computer printouts, instructions, hand- or machine‑generated documents, etc., as well as print and/or graphics on computer monitor Speech and hearing enough to communicate with others via telephone, face‑to‑face or in a public meeting Ability to be understood in a public place with or without a microphone Flexibility and coordination enough to operate a motor vehicle as needed Flexibility and coordination enough to bend, stoop, stand, crouch and walk to perform tasks such as setting up equipment and making presentations Strength enough to lift and move equipment weighing up to 35 poundsWORKING RELATIONSHIPS
This position requires frequent contact with other employees, medical personnel, students, clients, teachers, and the public to give and receive information and/or to provide technical assistance. The employee may be required to occasionally deal with temperamental people.SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED/ACCOUNTABILITY
This employee is under the supervision of the immediate supervisor. Work product is subject to both specific and general review. The incumbent has no supervisory responsibilities, and although this position has no direct accountability for any money or materials, the employee may make recommendations which result in the expenditure of significant funds.CONDITIONAL
Employees who fall into the following categories are in conditional employment positions: a) Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health Officer; b) Senior Executive Team, Executive Team and Leadership Team employees who serve at the pleasure of the OCCHD Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health Officer; c) certain other OCCHD employees whose salaries, benefits, and/or overhead are based on available funds such as, but not limited to, revenue generating contracts, grants, or fee‑for‑service revenue. In other words, this means that if the funding or the program is terminated, cancelled, or non‑renewed, your employment terminates automatically. This position may be partially or fully funded by a grant.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must have an operating vehicle available for use when field duties are required Will be compliant on recommended immunizations required by the CDC as a healthcare worker and as defined within the scope of Emergency Response within 30 days of hire. Exceptions accepted with documented medical or religious accommodation. OCCHD will provide vaccinations at no charge to employees. May be required to work outside of regular business hours or assigned shift hours due to job responsibilitiesBENEFITS
