Performs simulations, constructs shielding blocks, accurately documents duties performed, and participates in various quality assurance activities.Essential Duties:Accurately administers radiation therapy treatments in accordance with prescription and instructions given by the radiation oncologist.Performs simulations in preparation of radiation therapy treatmentsUses proper documentation to verify patient's treatment and orders followed through.Participates in the assessment of patient needs.Effectively and safely operates all imaging, therapeutic and related medical equipment competently.Assumes "on-call" status as necessary during off-hours for emergency procedures.Prioritizes work in order to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.Participates in providing education and information to patients and their families.Demonstrates a willingness and interest to cross train in other areas to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Completion of an AMA accredited Radiation Therapy Program.Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy (RTT).Licensed in the State of Ohio in Radiation Therapy (LRTT).CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of employment.Excellent planning and organization skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Solid mathematical, problem-solving and computer skills.Ability to follow direction instructions in order to provide patient care in an expedient, precise, professional and caring manner.Demonstrates and maintains an understanding of tools and resources used to complete work efficiently and effectively.Ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously.Patient Centered Care & Behavioral Expectations:Living the Genesis Mission, Vision and Values:Performs work in a manner that is quality focused.Treats patients, co-workers, visitors and volunteers with courtesy, compassion, empathy and respect.Results oriented and focused on achievement of objectives.Acknowledges and responds to the diversity of people and the situation.Encourages peers (others) to be owners of change.Always makes the effort to anticipate and exceed customer needs and expectations.Possesses the ability to engage others with patience and understanding.Acts in a manner that creates positive first and lasting impressions.Demonstrates the ability to own issues until they are resolved.Patient Centered Care (patients/families, physicians, co-workers, all other internal/external customers):Introduces self and role…connects with everyone.Communicates effectively (i.e. advising others of actions, pertinent information, time durations, etc.) and asks for feedback.Asks for and anticipates needs and concerns of others.Maintains a positive work environment for staff and a healing environment for patients (i.e. safe, clean, quiet, etc.)Maintains the dignity and privacy of each person; manages confidential/sensitive information appropriately.Responds to requests in an appropriate and timely manner.Exits patient/customer encounters courteously, asking if there are additional needs that can be addressed.Promotes Patient and Employee Safety:Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.)Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipmentDemonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:Ability to sit, stand, push, pull, bend and walk for extended periods of time.Ability to lift, move, manipulate patients and/or their extremities to administer therapy as required.Ability to manipulate technical equipment including lifting of blocks from 2 – 60 lbs.Ability to tolerate stress related to the mental and physical demands of the position.Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.This description reflects in general terms the type and level of work performed.
