Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 Hours/Week | 13–26 Week Assignments

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, Aortic Stenosis/Regurgitation, Cardiomyopathy, Endocarditis, and related vascular conditions
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and oversee post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and post-DCCV care
• Manage and titrate cardiac drips; provide care for patients following CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, and other cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including arterial lines, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), epicardial pacing wires, Doppler, bladder scanner, and EKG
• Perform sheath management and removal; provide non-invasive airway management including external CPAP/BiPAP and nasal cannula; NIHSS certification required for applicable patient populations
• Document using EPIC (SBAR communication), administer medications via Pyxis, and adhere to unit float rotation as assigned; contract staff must be available to serve on Storm/Hurricane Teams during catastrophic events

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
• Travel nursing experience required unless the candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac-specific experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Local candidates are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a local rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Arterial line management experience
• Wound care and wound VAC experience
• Charge nurse experience
