Summary

Do you enjoy designing electronics that bring innovative robotics and consumer products to life? OLogic is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer who can hit the ground running on PCB design, electronics prototyping, and hardware development projects for some of the most innovative companies in Silicon Valley.

This role is ideal for an engineer with at least 3 years of professional PCB design experience using Altium Designer, along with hands-on experience developing and prototyping electronics for robotics or consumer electronics. We are looking for someone who can independently take ownership of PCB design tasks, translate product requirements into practical engineering solutions, and collaborate directly with clients to understand their needs and guide technical decisions.

At OLogic, you will work across the product development process, from early requirements and electrical architecture through schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring-up, debugging, and hardware validation. You will collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and firmware engineers to develop functional, manufacturable products.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving challenging technical problems, working across disciplines, and delivering real hardware. We value engineers who combine strong technical judgment with initiative, clear communication, and a willingness to take ownership of their work.

This is an hourly position, not a salaried position.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience designing PCBs using Altium Designer, including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, and generating fabrication and assembly outputs.
• Demonstrated experience developing, building, testing, and debugging electronic hardware for robotics, consumer electronics, or other embedded products.
• Strong understanding of digital circuit design, analog electronics, power management, and common hardware interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with PCB bring-up, board-level troubleshooting, rework, and hardware validation.
• Ability to independently execute PCB design tasks and contribute to active engineering projects with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Experience translating product requirements into electrical designs and making informed engineering trade-offs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to discuss technical concepts, requirements, constraints, and design decisions with clients.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams and manage multiple technical priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing electronics for robotics, including motor control, sensors, actuators, batteries, charging systems, and embedded computing platforms.
• Experience with microcontrollers and embedded platforms such as STM32 or Raspberry Pi.
• Familiarity with firmware development in C/C++ or Python.
• Experience with high-speed digital interfaces, communication buses, signal integrity, or mixed-signal PCB design.
• Understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly processes, design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for test (DFT).
• Experience working with contract manufacturers, component suppliers, and prototype assembly vendors.
• Prior experience in a consulting, product development, or client-facing engineering environment.
• Ability to help clients clarify requirements, evaluate technical options, identify risks, and define practical engineering solutions.

Job Responsibilities

PCB Design & Electrical Engineering

• Own PCB design activities from initial requirements and schematic development through layout, design review, and release for fabrication and assembly.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, PCB layouts, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation using Altium Designer.
• Select appropriate components and develop circuit designs that meet electrical, mechanical, performance, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
• Apply sound engineering judgment to component selection, power distribution, signal integrity, grounding, protection circuitry, and board-level design decisions.
• Review PCB designs for electrical correctness, manufacturability, testability, reliability, and integration with the overall product.
• Identify and resolve design issues, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and complexity.

Electronics Prototyping & Hardware Validation

• Build, bring up, test, and debug prototype electronics and complete robotic or consumer electronic systems.
• Perform board-level troubleshooting, soldering, SMT rework, circuit modifications, and component replacement as needed.
• Develop and execute hardware test plans to verify functionality, performance, and reliability against requirements.
• Integrate PCBs with firmware, mechanical assemblies, sensors, motors, batteries, charging systems, and other peripherals.
• Collaborate with firmware and software engineers to diagnose system-level issues and resolve hardware/software integration challenges.
• Support iterative prototyping, design refinement, and preparation for manufacturing.

Client Engagement & Requirements Development

• Work directly with clients to understand product goals, technical requirements, constraints, and project priorities.
• Participate in technical discovery calls, design reviews, and project meetings to clarify requirements and communicate engineering recommendations.
• Translate client needs into actionable electrical requirements, design approaches, and implementation plans.
• Explain technical trade-offs, identify potential risks, and communicate design decisions and project constraints clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Take initiative in identifying gaps in requirements, proposing solutions, and helping clients make informed engineering decisions.
• Provide technical updates, document design decisions, and collaborate with project managers to support project execution and delivery.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with mechanical, firmware, software, and industrial design engineers to develop integrated products.
• Contribute to design reviews, troubleshooting sessions, and collaborative problem-solving across disciplines.
• Manage assigned engineering tasks with accountability for technical quality, schedule, and deliverables.
• Support design for manufacturing, prototype builds, and transitions from initial concepts to production-ready hardware.

Compensation

This is an hourly position. The expected starting rate is approximately $110 per hour, depending on experience, technical expertise, and overall qualifications. Final compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
