Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

The Community Chinle AZ The Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF) is based in Chinle, Arizona (Northeast Arizona near Canyon De Chelly National Monument). Strong Navajo cultural traditions exist within the community, offering an opportunity to learn the Navajo language, or to learn about traditional Navajo medicine. The service unit is located on the Colorado Plateau with excellent opportunities for photography, hiking, running, road biking, cross country skiing, and mountain biking. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is within 5 miles of the hospital and is a wonderful place for exploring and sightseeing, running and mountain biking.

The CCHCF provides medical care for approximately 35,000 Navajo citizens. Serving a rural area, many of our patients travel 100 miles round trip to receive care and do not have electricity or running water in their homes. In addition, most of our elderly patients speak only Navajo, and live according to traditional Navajo cultural practices. The CCHCF and Ambulatory Care Center is a 60-bed inpatient hospital and outpatient facility. Services offered include: Adult Inpatient, Labor & Delivery, Pharmacy, Adult Intensive Care, Mental Health, Physical Therapy, Anesthesiology, Nurse Phone Triage Services, Podiatry, Audiology, OB/GYN & Midwifery, Public Health, Dental, Occupational Therapy, Radiology, Emergency Medicine, Optometry, School Health, General Surgery, Outpatient Primary Care, Speech Pathology, Lab, Pediatric Inpatient, Women's Health Facility.

NP/PA RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• Shall perform Nursing duties and manage patient's needs as described, identified by the Emergency Service Unit and as directed by Supervisor.
• Shall perform in accordance with the competency standards.
• Shall provide comprehensive, skilled, and competent nursing care specific to the age of the patients (neonatal, infant, school-age, adolescent, adult and geriatric), based on nursing assessment, the nursing process, the provider's plan of care, where condition and treatments can range from non-critical to critical.
• Must have knowledge of the nursing process and its application to clinical practice in order to provide individualized, goal-oriented nursing care to the neonate, infant, school-age, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient(s).
• Must have knowledge of scientific and psychosocial nursing theory, principles, practices, and techniques in order to plan and provide-quality nursing care which meets the physical, spiritual, and social-cultural needs of the Indian patient.
• Must have knowledge of biological aspects of disease processes and illness in order to recognize complications and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions required.
• Must have the ability to analyze the results of various medical procedures and translate them into appropriate nursing interventions.
• Must have the ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the health care team and with Indian patients and their families.
• Must have the knowledge to operate and mentor specialized equipment such as respiratory equipment, thematic deceives, suction devices, defibrillator, electrocardiographs, etc., reports malfunctions to Bio-Med and /or Maintenance as needed.
• Capable of administering therapeutic measure as prescribed by the provider including mediations, intravenous fluids, blood products, respirator treatments, assist with various procedures i.e. splinting, sutures, preparing the patient, assisting during the procedure and evaluating patient outcomes post-procedures.
• Inter-Facility Transports.

Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant: REQUIREMENTS

• Must have thirty-six (36) months of nursing experience and/or ER experience with a minimum of twelve months (12) in the ED.
• Must hold an active, current, and unrestricted (unflagged) state NP or PA license from any of the Fifty (50) United States or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
• Must have valid, current board certifications if applicable (PA must be NCCPA certified.)
• Must have a valid, unrestricted DEA with schedules II- V.
• Cannot be under exclusions or sanctions from the Medicare/Medicaid programs.
• Must have received and will maintain national certification in Family Practice throughout the duration of this contract' period of performance.
