Use your clinical skills to assess incoming emergencies, initiate patient stabilization, and provide attentive ICU monitoring while working alongside experienced emergency veterinarians and board-certified specialists.In Your Day-to-Day You WillServe as an initial clinical point of contact for emergency and critical care patients, quickly assessing patient condition and identifying urgent needsTriage incoming emergencies and communicate changes in patient status to the veterinary teamAssist with patient stabilization, including oxygen therapy, IV catheter placement, fluid resuscitation, and other emergency interventionsMonitor patients continuously in the ICU, recognizing subtle changes and escalating concerns appropriatelyAssist with blood transfusions, including patient preparation, monitoring, and documentationProvide hands-on nursing care for patients experiencing trauma, toxicities, respiratory distress, acute abdominal conditions, and other life-threatening emergenciesSupport emergency procedures and diagnostic testing while maintaining accurate patient recordsWork closely with veterinarians and specialists to implement treatment plans and respond to changing patient needsCommunicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners during stressful and time-sensitive situationsMaintain a calm, organized, and collaborative approach when managing multiple high-acuity patientsStep in wherever needed to support the emergency and critical care team and ensure smooth patient flowWhat We're Looking ForCertified Veterinary Technician (CVT); recent veterinary technician graduates preparing for the VTNE are encouraged to applyOregon CVT license preferred/required for eligibility for the bonus programConfidence with rapid patient assessment and clinical decision-makingAbility to remain focused and effective in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency environmentStrong technical and patient-care skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesCompassionate approach to patients and their familiesAdaptable, dependable, and willing to support the hospital as a wholeInterest in expanding clinical knowledge and learning advanced emergency and critical care techniquesAbout Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty CenterLocated in Central Point, Oregon, Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center (SOVSC) is the region's only 24/7 specialty and emergency veterinary hospital within a 250-mile radius.
