Vacation and Sick Leave Overview of the position: The Activities Assistant role provides routine daily activities and services to each assigned resident in accordance with their assessment and care plan, as directed by supervisors. Essential Job Functions: Organize, implement and direct scheduled activities of a recreational, physical, educational, social and spiritual nature for residents both in groups and for individuals. Ensure participation of all residents and that activities offered can be applied to various levels of functioning according to recorded resident assessments. Perform room visitations and activities as required by schedule and / or observed resident need . Keep clear and concise documentation on logs and in resident charts of resident participation in activities as required by state regulations and facility policy. Transports residents to assigned locations for activity. Monitor and supervise residents at all times during activities to ensure resident safety. Assist in passing meal trays and patients at meal times . Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift. Qualifications: Must be able to speak and write in English Must have the ability to communicate well with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, general public . Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
