Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a dynamic contract assignment at York Hospital in York, Maine. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care within the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), catering to patients across various surgical specialties.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the pre-operative assessment and preparation of surgical patients in the ASU, as well as the critical post-operative monitoring and recovery phase in the PACU. This includes managing patient airways, pain, and vital signs, ensuring a safe and smooth transition from anesthesia to recovery or discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments, ensuring patient readiness for surgery and addressing any concerns.
• Provide expert post-anesthesia care, including continuous monitoring of vital signs, respiratory status, and neurological function.
• Administer medications, manage pain, and address post-operative complications effectively.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care instructions and discharge planning.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergent situations, demonstrating critical thinking and advanced clinical skills.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), or Critical Care Unit (CCU).
