Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

Location: Salem, VA

Type: Full-Time

Pay: $32.33/hr – $48.50/hr

Shift & Schedule: Days, Nights, Evenings, or Mixed Shifts | Rotating Weekends Required

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered emergency care in a fast-paced acute care environment. The ideal candidate will be skilled in rapid assessment, critical thinking, prioritization, and interdisciplinary collaboration while caring for patients with a wide range of medical conditions and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly assess, triage, and provide care to emergency department patients across all age groups.

• Prioritize nursing interventions based on patient acuity and clinical needs.

• Manage multiple patient cases simultaneously while maintaining quality and safety standards.

• Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions as ordered.

• Collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments, patients, and families to coordinate care.

• Participate in patient discharge planning and education.

• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation.

• Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in clinical status.

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards.

• Support a collaborative and team-oriented emergency care environment.

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN License or Compact RN License.

• Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

• Current BLS Certification (AHA).

• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department RN experience preferred.

• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency care environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or active BSN enrollment.

• Previous Emergency Department experience.

• Trauma, Critical Care, or Acute Care nursing background.

• Experience with emergency triage and rapid patient assessment.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
