They assume responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process. They implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. This documentation ensures the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission. They develop appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards. These plans are based on patient and family needs. The RN implements plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. They modify plans of care based on continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety. They report and/or correct safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others is essential for resolving issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. They confer with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. Identifying personal learning needs is important. The RN takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. They fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies.
