Transportation Supervisor's Assistant (40 Hour)

What We Offer You Professional growth and development opportunities Healthy work/life balance for all employees Recognition as an award-winning agency (Employer of the Year by CSCE and WTS CT Employer of the Year 2024) The Role Assist in the daily operation of the Putnam Repair Facility through clerical, operational, and maintenance-support functions Carry out office and record-keeping responsibilities that require accuracy, attention to detail, timeliness, and the ability to prioritize tasks that directly impact public safety Utilize multiple computer systems and software, including Microsoft Word and Excel, PeopleSoft (Core-CT), and STARS Support a fast-paced office responding to emergencies, weather events, and shifting priorities, requiring multitasking, organization, and proactive follow-through Communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups, both verbally and in writing Apply strong interpersonal skills to work with the public, address concerns, relay important information, and support responses to safety issues and emergencies Position Requirements Commit to assignment for emergency duties, including mandatory winter overtime (Nov 1 – Apr 30, whenever required). Out-of-state vacations cannot be approved during this period. Be available during storm events, potentially working through several days, holidays, and weekends. Maintain residency within 30 miles of the posted job location. Demonstrate a strong commitment to public safety and reliability during emergency operations. Position Highlights Monday – Friday, Full-time (40 hrs per week) First shift (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM) Location: Putnam, CT – Putnam Repair Facility Office/on-site work within a highway maintenance garage setting Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of general clerical work experience. Substitutions Allowed One (1) year of general maintenance support experience that includes substantial time on related clerical duties, as described in the Examples of Duties, may be substituted for the General Experience requirement. Preferred Qualifications Experience with computers and Microsoft Office applications Experience processing payroll Experience in record-keeping and/or computing costs Experience with Microsoft Outlook; sending and fielding emails and scheduling meetings Experience answering phones, dispatching calls, and handling public inquiries Experience prioritizing work, multi-tasking, and meeting time-sensitive deadlines Experience sorting, organizing, and filing materials Physical & Working Conditions Must have sufficient strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity to perform duties. May require a physical examination. Exposed to extremes of weather, moderate weight lifting, poison ivy, insect bites, allergy irritants, and loud machinery.
