Business Intelligence Analyst Specialist (SQL, Power BI, Tableau)

Job Summary Join a high-impact analytics team as a Business Intelligence Analyst Specialist supporting enterprise reporting, data strategy, and AI-enabled analytics initiatives. In this senior-level role, you will partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, translate complex data needs into actionable solutions, lead testing efforts, and develop insightful reports and dashboards that support critical business decisions. You'll leverage advanced SQL, Power BI or Tableau, and modern AI-assisted data analysis techniques while helping drive data quality, governance, and organizational data literacy. Job Details Location: Austin, Texas Job Type: Contract Salary: $65 - 72 per hour Work Hours: 8am to 5pm Education: Bachelors Responsibilities Gather, analyze, and document business, technical, and data requirements. Translate business needs into functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and test documentation. Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and requirements traceability matrices. Lead testing activities across Agile sprint cycles and traditional Waterfall projects. Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and analysis. Collaborate with stakeholders to design and validate reports, dashboards, and visualizations. Translate complex data requests into effective AI prompts and query strategies. Create reusable AI prompt libraries and reporting templates. Validate AI-generated outputs and identify potential inaccuracies or hallucinations. Ensure compliance with data governance, reporting standards, and quality requirements. Deliver training and documentation that improves organizational data literacy. Partner with technical and business teams to resolve data quality and reporting issues. Communicate technical findings clearly to business users and executive stakeholders. Qualifications 10+ years of experience gathering business requirements and translating complex data requests into technical solutions. 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar senior analytical role. 10+ years of advanced SQL experience for data extraction and manipulation. 10+ years of experience creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. Experience with Power BI and/or Tableau. Strong experience leading testing efforts, including test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to explain technical concepts and data limitations to non-technical users. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse environments. Experience working within healthcare, government, or other highly regulated industries. Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices. Experience developing and delivering data literacy or AI training. Experience mentoring users with varying technical skill levels. Experience creating AI prompt catalogs using Python and Streamlit. Familiarity with responsible AI practices and AI governance.
