Job Details Location: Arizona Biltmore Golf Club – Phoenix, AZ 85016 Position Type: Part Time Education Level: None Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Weekdays and Weekends Job Category: Admin – Clerical Job Summary Under general supervision, the Inside Golf Shop Assistant is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to golfing and non‑golfing guests within the Golf Shop environment. The role assists with guest check‑in, retail sales, tee time reservations, and general golf operations while maintaining a professional, organized, and welcoming Golf Shop atmosphere. The assistant may also support various operational tasks and projects supporting the golf club, including tournaments, merchandising, guest services, special events, and other day‑to‑day golf operations as assigned. Guest Experience & Customer Service Welcome and assist golfing and non‑golfing guests in a professional and friendly manner. Check in guests for scheduled golf tee times and assist with daily golf operations. Answer guest questions regarding the golf course, resort amenities, merchandise, services, and general property information. Provide a high level of customer service to help create a positive guest experience. Work collaboratively with other areas within the golf club to support club operations. Tee Times, Telephone & Email Responsibilities Answer telephones promptly and professionally while assisting with guest inquiries and tee time reservations. Reserve, modify, and manage tee times using the golf reservation system. Assist guests with golf‑related questions, scheduling, and operational information. Ensure proper approval has been obtained for Employee Golf. Respond to all direct golf shop group emails during your shift. Retail Sales & Point of Sale Operation Assist guests with merchandise selection and Golf Shop purchases. Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process retail sales, tee times, and other transactions accurately. Assist with cash handling and daily transaction procedures in accordance with company policies. Maintain knowledge of Golf Shop merchandise, promotions, and retail offerings. Merchandising & Golf Shop Appearance Assist with stocking merchandise, organizing displays, and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the Golf Shop sales floor. Safety & Incident Response Remain attentive to retail activity within the Golf Shop and promptly report suspected shop‑lifting, theft, suspicious activity, or other security concerns to management according to company procedures. Assist in completing accident and incident reports for golfers and visitors within the golf shop. May be requested to contact emergency contacts. Cross‑Departmental Support Support other departments with their duties when requested or assigned. Other Attend meetings and trainings, as scheduled. Conform with all safety standards and use of all appropriate safety equipment. Perform all other duties, as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED (attending or graduating). Minimum one (1) year of retail experience, preferably in a golf environment. Previous experience in a customer‑service‑related position. Basic knowledge of golf operations, terminology, and etiquette preferred. Ability to problem‑solve and remain calm under pressure. Strong communication skills with guests and fellow teammates in a professional, friendly manner. Outgoing personality with a desire to positively represent the golf course. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately. Dependable, punctual, and team‑oriented. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs. Ability to use Radio. Ability to use employee self‑service on company’s human resources/payroll database. Ability to use Point‑of‑Sale system, email systems, and other applicable operational systems. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid State Driver’s License (required for driving golf carts). Part‑Time Positions Busy Season: Minimum 3 shifts per week, including weekends. Non‑Peak Season: Minimum 2–3 weeks per shift, including weekends; with manager approval, a minimum of 1 shift per pay period may be granted in limited situations. Schedule may include weekends and holidays as required by business needs. Require reliability and attendance; request time off in advance. Full‑Time Positions Busy Season: Up to or near 40 hours per week, including covering shifts and working overtime as needed. Non‑Peak Season: Minimum 30 hours per week; may be scheduled for additional hours if business needs require. Schedule may include weekends and holidays as required by business needs. Require reliability and attendance; request time off in advance. Physical Demands Stand and walk for extended periods during the shift. Use hands and wrists for operating a computer, POS system, telephone, and handling merchandise. Bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift merchandise or supplies. Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Communicate effectively with guests, members, management, and co‑workers, in person and by telephone or radio. Maintain visual attention to detail for transactions, inventory, displays, and guest interactions. Talk and listen actively. Work around people. Work Environment Primarily indoors within the Golf Shop and clubhouse; occasional outdoor work may be required. Frequent guest interactions and moderate to high activity levels. Noise levels may vary from moderate to loud depending on traffic, tournaments, events, and daily operations. May be exposed to dust, cleaning products, outdoor elements, and typical golf club or retail environment conditions. Schedules may include weekends, holidays, and other business needs.
