Position Type: Teacher - Assistants/ Assistant - Title I Date Posted: 8/7/2026 Location: Smith High School Job Title: Assistant-Title I Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Campus Principal Pay Grade: IS 2 – 187 Days Dept./School: Smith High School Date Revised: August 7, 2026 Primary Purpose: Assist in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements for at-risk students under the supervision of a certified teacher. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED Associate's Degree or minimum of 48 college credits SBEC Paraprofessional Certification or eligible for certification Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children Knowledge of general office equipment Preferred Experience: Previous successful experience working with children Major Responsibilities and Duties: Providing one-on-one tutoring if such tutoring is scheduled at a time when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher; Assisting with classroom management, such as by organizing instructional materials; Providing instructional assistance in a computer laboratory; Conducting parental involvement activities; Providing instructional support in a library or media center; Acting as a translator; Providing instructional support services under the direct supervision of an appropriately certified teacher. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
