Role Description

The Litigation Personal Injury Paralegal will support attorneys across all phases of cases from inception through trial. Litigation Paralegals must be able to communicate effectively with clients on highly sensitive topics, while working in a fast-paced environment that involves sensitive subject matter and complex case management. It requires close collaboration with attorneys, investigators, litigation assistants, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently and effectively from intake through resolution. Litigation Paralegals are also expected to act as role models and mentors to other paralegals, acting as a resource and providing additional training as needed.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Physical Requirements

• Draft pleadings, motions, and court filings in accordance with applicable court rules and deadlines
• Coordinate with judges' offices and opposing counsel on scheduling, hearings, and case-related matters
• Prepare discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
• Organize and manage discovery documentation throughout the lifecycle of each case
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing case updates and gathering necessary information. This includes contacting clients every sixty (60) days unless otherwise instructed by the client or management, and conferencing with the managing attorneys if you are unable to locate a client.
• Conduct Deep Dives with clients about sensitive topics, including the details of their abuse, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date case files in the firm's case management system, including inputting all notes, dates, documents, calendar entries, and other information in Neos.
• This includes firm’s naming convention and placement of documents in folders and sub-folders)
• Linking documents in various case tabs as directed by the firm
• Ensuring notes are made in each case as files are being worked on
• Creating and updating each case’s Master To Do List.
• Ensure daily work on checklist items is being conducted
• Maintain litigation calendars and ensure all critical deadlines are tracked and met
• Ensuring all documents received on a file are saved into that file in Neos (not on a local drive or email inbox)
• Tagging all emails into the associated file
• Ensuring that all invoices are submitted to finance. Litigation assistants may help with this task, but the paralegal is ultimately responsible.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of civil litigation experience, including drafting motions, preparing discovery, reviewing records, scheduling, e-filing, hearing and trial preparation, and file and calendar management.
• Prior experience in personal injury law.
• Proficient in legal calendaring.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong client relations and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
• Technology savvy and proficient in Microsoft, including Excel and Word.
