Director Of Human ResourcesThe Director of Human Resources understands that the hotel will only be as successful as the associates who are in it, and make it a priority to foster a positive culture of engagement- filling our team with passionate associates who love our industry. An HR Director is responsible for the daily operations of the Human Resource function; including full-cycle recruiting, training and development, and coaching & counseling, and administration. An HR Director will help build their team's leadership skillset and HR business acumen. HR Directors will work closely with the General Manager regarding short and long-term goals and manage expenses within approved budget parameters. HR Directors must have a welcoming and approachable personality and demonstrate genuine concern for guests and employees. HR sets the tone for others in stressful situations by responding in a cool, calm, and collected way. Creating confidence and trust is a must and must be viewed by others as honest and direct. You must be comfortable conversing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and at all organizational levels. You are a self-improver who develops a variety of approaches and communication techniques tailored to each situation. The person having this position must possess good communication skills, have the ability to resolve conflict and have a thorough understanding of LINE policies, procedures, and expectations. Because of the fluctuating demands of the company's operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employee is expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesEstablish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotelRespond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance as neededRedirect HR related calls or distribute correspondence to the appropriate person of the teamMaintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, benefits, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are metAct as a liaison with other departments or functions (payroll, benefits etc.)Lead the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, issuing employment contracts etc.Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events etc. and maintain the team's agendaCoordinate training sessions and seminarsEnsure new hire orientations are conductedDevelop the onboarding process and update new hire recordsImplement policies and proceduresRespond to unemployment claimsCoordinate and facilitate benefit enrollment meetingsProcess payroll edits and review payroll for accuracyReview insurance carrier invoices for accuracyAssist in recommending and supporting employee relations programsProduce and submit reports on general HR activityAdhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructionsMaintain "open door" communication with employeesControl labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash controlResponsible for interviewing, selecting, training, guiding, managing and scheduling personnelMonitor and develop employee performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, conducting counseling, evaluations, setting annual goals and delivering recognition and rewardEnsure staff understands their job expectations before holding them accountableMaintain awareness of documentation needed and retained in employee filesBe familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirementsAttend relevant meetingsMust be courteous and gracious, maintaining a professional demeanor at all timesKnowledge, Requirements and SkillsBachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or relevant field; additional education in Human Resource Management a plusBi/Multi-Lingual a plus – Spanish a plusAt least two (2) years' experience as an HR Director preferredAt least five (5) years' experience as an HR Manager or HR Leader requiredUnion experience requiredHotel experience preferredKnowledge of human resources processes and best practicesStrong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g. Ceridian Dayforce, ADP, Paycom)Ability to work with Applicant Tracking SoftwareIn-depth understanding of sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communitiesFamiliarity with social media recruitingOutstanding communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to handle data with confidentialityExcellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English LanguageExcellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent attention to detailAbility to multitaskWork well under pressure, requires being a team playerWorking Conditions/Environment1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate 2. The person having this responsibility may have to lift up to 20lbs on an occasional basis 3.
