Emergency Medicine Physician

Physician Assistant (PA) Full Time, Orange, California, UCI Health Sciences – School of Medicine – DOM Hospitalists Salary: USD $90.64 to USD $124.44 per hour Your Role on the Team The Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive care for patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings under the supervision of the Hospital Medicine & Palliative Medicine faculty. Responsibilities include coordinated care, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. This Position May Perform Perform duties in scope of practice, including management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and related procedures. Obtain and maintain applicable privileges and licensure; credentialing must be completed prior to first working day. Provide patient care across age groups and health‑licensed settings within all Health locations and affiliates. Maintain standards of care for the specified patient population and demonstrate accountability for quality of care. Collaborate with supervising physicians and administrative managers for evaluation and feedback. Special Conditions Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire. What It Takes to be Successful Clear understanding of core internal medicine principles. Knowledge of medical history and skillful history‑taking. Expertise in physical exam techniques. Experience using standard protocols for Hospital Medicine patients. Effective collaboration across the program and UCI Health System. Diplomacy and flexibility in interactions with physicians, nurses, and other staff. Customer service skills suitable for the role. Clear communication of medical information to diverse audiences. Excellent written communication for reports, laboratory data, and progress notes. Ability to maintain a suitable work pace. Proficiency with specialized medical equipment and procedures. Adherence to privacy, confidentiality, and PHI security policies. Multilingual proficiency. Licensure through the California Physician Assistant Board. Current DEA registration (schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5). Current BLS and ACLS certification. Completion of Controlled Substances Education Course per California regulations. National board certification by the NCCPA at time of initial appointment. Documentation of care provision over the past 24 months, including case types and procedures. Experience with patients on single and combination modality treatment plans.
