This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading electrical systems and equipment in a heavy industrial environment. You will perform scheduled and emergency repairs, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on a wide range of machinery, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment. The position emphasizes hands-on electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of existing equipment, with some work on upgrades and improvements.

Responsibilities

• Receive and interpret work instructions, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and specifications to perform scheduled, emergency, and routine repairs, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.
• Interpret drawings and sketches to determine the best work procedures, tools, and equipment needed to troubleshoot and repair electrical problems.
• Repair, rebuild, and test electrical components to return equipment to service quickly and efficiently.
• Perform maintenance on existing equipment for the majority of the time, with a portion of work focused on upgrading equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems using ladder logic, electrical prints, schematics, and knowledge of three-phase electricity.
• Diagnose problems and failures and repair a variety of industrial equipment, including presses and other production machinery.
• Work with AC/DC motors, generators, transformers, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic controls, control panels, starters, switches, lighting equipment, electronic scales, power distribution systems, communication systems, inverters and motor drives, conduit and fittings.
• Bend and run rigid conduit from 0.5 inch to 2 inch as required by installations and repairs.
• Troubleshoot motor drives and related control systems to resolve performance issues.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure the ongoing functioning and reliability of tools, machinery, and electrical systems.
• Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are available in safe, proper operating condition.
• Apply knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic press systems and programmable controls when troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
• Read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics to identify faults and implement effective repairs.
• Safely operate common industrial electrician equipment, including conduit benders, drill presses, hydraulic presses, bench grinders, pipe threading machines, man lifts, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
• Use multimeters and other test instruments to evaluate electrical systems and components.
• Adhere to all safety requirements and use appropriate personal protective equipment at all times while working in the facility.

Essential Skills

• 3–5 years of experience working as an industrial electrician in heavy industrial facilities.
• Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with heavy industrial equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems using ladder logic, electrical prints, and schematics.
• Hands-on experience with three-phase motors and three-phase electrical systems.
• Experience working with AC/DC motors, generators, transformers, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic controls, control panels, starters, switches, lighting equipment, and electronic scales.
• Ability to bend and run rigid conduit from 0.5 inch to 2 inch.
• Experience with power distribution systems, communication systems, inverters/motor drives, conveyors, and electrical control systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot motor drives effectively.
• Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic press systems and programmable controls.
• Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
• Experience using multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
• Ability to safely lift 40–50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Successful completion of the Ramsey Mechanical test with a score of at least 65%.
• Ability to safely operate conduit benders, drill presses, hydraulic presses, bench grinders, pipe threading machines, man lifts, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance practices for industrial electrical and mechanical systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with PLC troubleshooting and working with programmable logic controllers in an industrial environment.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley & Siemens PLC hardware and controls.
• Experience in mechanical troubleshooting, millwright work, hydraulics, and pneumatics in support of electrical maintenance.
• Ability to interpret and work from detailed blueprints, electrical prints, and schematics.
• Comfort working with non-climate-controlled equipment and systems such as presses, conveyors, and large industrial machinery.
• Strong attention to safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and adapt to changing production priorities.

Work Environment

The role is based in a heavy industrial, non-climate-controlled facility where temperatures vary with the seasons, resulting in hot conditions in summer and cold conditions in winter. Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times, and safety practices are strictly followed. The position operates on a rotating schedule of four days on and four days off, with 12-hour shifts running from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work involves regular use of industrial tools and equipment such as conduit benders, drill presses, hydraulic presses, bench grinders, pipe threading machines, man lifts, forklifts, and overhead cranes, and requires frequent lifting of 40–50 pounds. The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and production-focused, with an emphasis on safe, efficient maintenance of large industrial machinery and electrical systems.
