TRAFFIC SAFETY MONITOR

LOCATION: Pioneer Elementary REPORTS TO: Principal/Associate Principal/Transportation Director DEPARTMENT: Elementary/Middle School Hours / Work Times 0.17 Hours Per Day (7:40 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. and 2:05 p.m. - 2:10 p.m.) 0.17 Hours All Early-Release Days (7:40 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. - 12:10 p.m.) 190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays) This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 10/13/2026. A valid First Aid/CPR card must be submitted to Classified Personnel within45 days of hire. Only courses with a \"hands-on\" component taught by a certified instructor are acceptable. Position Duration : Permanent Classification Group : Service Workers Class I Salary Placement : New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement. SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the building Principal/Associate Principal/Transportation Manager, the traffic safety monitor position provides safety support to the educational process by providing safe access to and from the school campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Communicate effectively with students, staff, and the general public. Monitor and direct bus, parent, and/or visitor traffic. Flag traffic as necessary to provide safe access and exit from campus to walking and riding students, in accordance with District training. Carry out discipline procedures as defined by the building principal. Record any student behavior that is not safe or appropriate and provide a written report to the principal. Provide prudent safety-related information to the Principal/Associate Principal. Perform FIrst Aid/CPR when necessary.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the general public. Demonstrated ability to effectively apply techniques in working with students in the area of behavior management. Demonstrated ability to prepare legible reports/documents and give clear verbal instructions. Knowledge of or willingness to become knowledgeable of the rights of students and legal aspects of the position.
