About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: In Patient Rehab/MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Successful completion of an open book exam on skills during orientation - Must receive at least a 90% to pass the exam - Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care Description: The unit has a total of 35 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 during the day shift and 1:6 during the night shift. Common patient diagnoses include adults and geriatrics with conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, amputations, critical illnesses, and neurological diseases like multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common drips include antibiotics, anticoagulation, and antiplatelets. A charge nurse is present on each shift. There are nurse aides/patient care technicians on this unit with a ratio of 1:10-15. Shifts are cyclic self-scheduled. Weekend work is required at a minimum of every third weekend. There is a requirement to work at least two holidays. There are no on-call or standby requirements. Floating to other departments will be required. Successful attributes for a nurse in this unit include strong communication skills, organization, teamwork, innovative problem-solving skills, compassion, integrity, and collaboration. RTO must be provided upfront with limited additional time off approval. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts within a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
