Registration Officer

About The Role Working hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:15 am – 3:30 pm with a half‑hour lunch break; Wednesday 8:00 am – 4:05 pm or 8:15 am – 4:20 pm with lunch; one Saturday every 7 weeks 8:50 am – 11:50 am. Contract type: Permanent, Full Time. Working style: Onsite. Responsibilities Register births, deaths, stillbirths, marriages and civil partnerships. Facilitate citizenship ceremonies and conduct full range of ceremonies offered by Manchester Register Office. Locate and issue historic certificates. Provide clear, comprehensible advice and assistance to residents across diverse communities. Occasionally work outside the office – at Surestart centres, licensed wedding and civil partnership venues and varied religious premises – with transport provided as required. Work additional out‑of‑hours sessions (maximum 8 per year) on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays with competitive payment. Qualifications and Experience Enthusiastic and hardworking with keen eye for detail and strong customer focus. Exceptional people skills, tact and emotional intelligence for dealing with individuals during emotionally charged moments. Experience of cash handling or financial reconciliation. Ability to work flexibly and respond to priorities in a fast‑paced service. Right to Work and Legal Requirements Right to work : Successful candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment. Visa sponsorship is not available. References : Two references required. Where possible, a 3‑year employment history is preferred. BPSS Clearance : This post is subject to BPSS checks. Candidates must consent to and comply with ID, nationality, immigration status, employment history (past 3 years) and basic criminal record checks before commencing.
