Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a busy emergency department, including triage, initial assessment, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and as-needed procedures per ER protocols; initiate ACLS/PALS as indicated
• Monitor patient status, interpret vital signs, perform rapid clinical decisions, and coordinate emergent interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff; document care accurately in the electronic medical record (Epic) and communicate patient disposition
• Ensure patient safety and comfort, maintain infection prevention practices, and educate patients and families about treatments and discharge plans
• Manage fluctuating patient loads, coordinate necessary consults, and support unit flows during high-acuity periods

Requirements

• Education: Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in New York; current RN licensure or proof of application with applied date (NY licensing may take 6-8 weeks)
• Licenses: Active NY RN license or verifiable application; ability to provide documentation in the packet at start
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC (Equivalency), TNCC (active or proof of class prior to start in packet), NIHSS required prior to starting
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of ER nursing experience; prior travel experience preferred; charge nurse experience preferred
• EMR: Epic experience within the past 2 years is required and nonnegotiable
• Additional: Reliable transportation is recommended; public transportation is not accessible in this area; vehicles with all-season or snow tires recommended during winter months
