Parking Enforcement Officer

The City of San Rafael is seeking a full‑time Parking Enforcement Officer to join the Parking Services Department. The position requires a dependable, observant, and customer‑service oriented individual who can patrol assigned areas, enforce parking laws and the abandoned vehicle abatement program, and maintain accurate records. $6,306 - $7,665 monthly (DOE/DOQ) – salary effective July 1, 2026 APPLICATION DEADLINE: Apply by Friday, July 10, 2026, at 5:00 pm ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not exhaustive) Issue parking citations using hand‑held computers Enforce the abandoned vehicle abatement program Prepare monthly statistical reports on activity Report missing traffic signals, signs, or broken parking meters Mark and manage towing of abandoned or illegally parked vehicles, and impound vehicles with outstanding tickets Receive and record complaints from citizens concerning illegally parked and abandoned vehicles Enter data into computer systems regarding parking violations and abandoned vehicles Work scheduled primarily Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., for no more than 4 days per week and 37.5 hours per week

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
