About the Role
The Company is seeking a VP, Legal to play a pivotal role in the legal and regulatory aspects of its groundbreaking remote driving technology. The successful candidate will be the most senior legal voice, responsible for developing and executing legal strategies that support the company's rapid expansion across different jurisdictions. This is a hands-on, player-coach role that requires a builder with a strong generalist legal background, including experience in corporate governance, fundraising, regulatory strategy, commercial contracts, data privacy, insurance, employment, litigation, compliance, and IP. The VP, Legal will also be instrumental in shaping the legal function as the company grows, leading a lean legal team, and ensuring that the legal department is deeply embedded in the business, fast, pragmatic, and focused on enabling smart decisions. Applicants for the VP, Legal position at the company should have a J.D. from an accredited law school, active bar membership, and at least 10 years of legal experience, with a significant portion of that time spent in both a top-tier law firm and in-house at a high-growth technology, mobility, or regulated company. The role demands a candidate with strong regulatory instincts, particularly in ambiguous or frontier sectors, and excellent commercial judgment. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, autonomous, and pragmatic, with a clear, direct communication style, capable of translating complex legal issues into practical guidance for a diverse range of stakeholders. Responsibilities include leading the legal function, acting as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team, and managing a wide array of legal matters, from corporate governance to data privacy and protection.
