Scientific Computing Expert for AI Training

Role Overview

Apply advanced scientific computing expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through real-world technical input, evaluations, and feedback. This remote contract opportunity focuses on the practical use of AI coding agents in STEM workflows, including complex codebases, research challenges, and engineering work. Prior AI experience is not required, as domain expertise in scientific computing is central to the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide detailed examples of AI coding agents integrated into complex scientific computing workflows.
• Demonstrate and document use of Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork to navigate large codebases, debug issues, and implement features.
• Write clear technical narratives and provide verbal explanations of approaches, challenges, and problem-solving strategies.
• Assess the practical impact of AI agents when addressing ambiguous requirements, architectural updates, and full-cycle project scenarios.
• Submit structured feedback on current AI tools, including their strengths, limitations, and opportunities for improvement in scientific computing contexts.
• Contribute real-world data, scripts, or code samples produced through AI-agent workflows, using agents to generate sequences rather than simple chat queries.

Qualifications

• Significant scientific computing experience as a current STEM professional, with hands-on AI tool integration experience preferred.
• Proficiency using Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork for advanced work beyond basic code completion.
• Experience debugging large codebases, implementing features, and documenting technical processes.
• Ability to apply AI agents to large-scale, ambiguous, or complex engineering and research challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical workflows clearly.
• Experience delivering structured feedback and thorough technical documentation.
• A record of using AI agents to generate code or output sequences in real-world professional settings.
• A collaborative, detail-oriented approach and interest in advancing AI capabilities for STEM applications.

Work Terms

• Remote contract engagement.

Compensation

• $80 to $100 per hour.
