Cook/Chef – Garden Tea Room on 4th Street

Garden Tea Room on 4th Street is seeking a dependable, organized Cook/Chef to join our small team.

Location: 5939 4th Street NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107
Schedule: Thursday through Sunday; Saturdays are required
Hours: Approximately 8–36 hours per week, depending on reservations and business needs
Pay: $14–$16 per hour, depending on experience; open to discussion

This is a unique kitchen position preparing three-course afternoon teas and made-to-order small bites. Our menu includes tea sandwiches, Beef Wellington bites, spanakopita, scones with cream and jam, muffins, cheesecakes, and rotating miniature desserts.

Because our business is primarily reservation-based, strong organization and time-management skills are essential. Daily preparation is planned according to the number of guests expected.

• Prepare food for scheduled afternoon-tea reservations
• Prepare made-to-order items from our small-bites menu
• Bake and prepare scones, muffins, desserts, and other menu items
• Follow daily prep lists and manage time effectively
• Plate food neatly, attractively, and consistently
• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen
• Properly label, date, and rotate ingredients
• Assist with dishes, restocking, ordering, and inventory
• Contribute ideas for seasonal menu items

• At least one year of cooking, baking, pastry, catering, or similar kitchen experience
• Strong time-management and organizational skills
• Excellent attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work independently in a small kitchen
• Attention to detail and pride in food presentation
• Food handler or ServSafe certification, or willingness to obtain it before starting
• Reliable transportation
• Experience preparing gluten-free and vegetarian food is helpful
• Baking or pastry experience is preferred
