Cooney Healthcare and Rehabilitation is seeking a Respiratory Therapist/Nurse to join our Skilled Nursing Facility team! 

Respiratory Therapist(s) with at least 1 year of experience with Tracheostomy AND ventilator management/experience.  

Respiratory Therapist/Nurse Responsibilities

Respiratory Therapists are generally responsible for the following duties:

• Perform chest examinations on a range of patients from babies through to the elderly

• Consult with doctors and other healthcare staff to develop and modify patient treatment plans

• Provide detailed therapy, requiring significant independent judgment, like when caring for patients in intensive care

• Perform physical examination and diagnostic tests measuring lung capacity and blood acidity and alkalinity

• Treat patients using oxygen or oxygen mixtures, aerosol medications and chest physiotherapy

• Connect patients who can’t breathe to a ventilator

• Educate patients on how to use equipment and medication

• Regularly check on patients and equipment

Respiratory Therapist/Nurse Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• Associate’s degree with major in Respiratory Therapy

• Six months of experience within in the last two years or completion of a clinical rotation within the last year in critical care/intensive care environment, to include care of respiratory needs of acutely ill patients

• Valid state Respiratory Therapist license (must meet education requirement(s) for state licensure)

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (must obtain within 3 months of hire)

• Certified Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
