Human Resources Business Partner, Hospital & Clinical Operations | Full-Time

Wills Eye Hospital is hiring a  Human Resources Business Partner in  Philadelphia, PA . In this  role,  you’ll   provide day-to-day HR support with an emphasis on employee relations, manager coaching, recruitment support, onboarding, performance management, and policy administration . This is a Full-Time 40 hours per week opportunity for someone  who wants to  partner closely with operational and clinical leadership to ensure a positive employee experience, maintain regulatory compliance, support PASNAP represented nursing staff in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, and coordinate HR readiness activities for ACHC accreditation surveys .

In this role,  you’ll support  the Director of HR Operations & Strategy, operational leadership, clinical leadership, and employees at Wills Eye Hospital (WEH) and Wills Eye Ophthalmology Clinic (WEOC)while helping deliver high-quality ophthalmic care.  You’ll manage  the organization's people-related operations and HR support for assigned departments   and contribute to a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities  

• Serves as the primary HR contact for assigned Hospital departments and clinical practices  located at the main campus,  providing day-to-day guidance on employee relations, performance management, attendance, and HR policies.  

• Responds to employee relations concerns, conducts routine workplace investigations, documents findings, and partners with senior HR leadership on complex matters.  

• Coaches managers on performance management, corrective action, documentation, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.  

• Partners with Hospital and clinical leadership to support staffing, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and employee retention initiatives.  

• Coordinates recruitment activities with hiring managers, recruiters, and the HR team to support  timely hiring and onboarding.  

• Supports onboarding and orientation activities while ensuring compliance with pre-employment, licensure, and regulatory requirements.  

• Partners with Benefits, Payroll, and HR shared services to resolve employee questions and ensure  high quality service delivery.  

• Maintains working knowledge of the PASNAP collective bargaining agreement and provides guidance on contract interpretation, grievance administration, seniority, and related labor relations matters in collaboration with HR leadership.  

• Coordinates and  maintains HR compliance initiatives supporting ACHC accreditation, including personnel file audits,  required documentation, licensure tracking, education records, and survey readiness.  

• Supports implementation of HR policies, procedures, and organizational initiatives across assigned client groups.  

• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, collective bargaining obligations, and organizational policies.  

• Maintains  accurate and confidential employee records  in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.  

• Responds to HR inquiries and directs employees and managers to the  appropriate resources when needed.  

• Provides cross coverage for other Human Resources Business Partners as needed.  

• Participates in HR projects, process improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned.  

• Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive  employee and organizational information.

Minimum Qualifications  

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources , Business Administration, or  a related field  required .  

• Minimum of 2 to 4 years of progressive Human Resources experience  required , preferably in an HR generalist or business partner capacity.  

• Exposure to employee relations investigations and performance management  required .  

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.  

• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and  problem solving skills.  

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering responsive customer service.  

• Ability to work primarily at the Wills Eye Hospital main campus  located at 840 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, with occasional travel to other organizational locations as needed.  

Preferred Qualifications  

• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)  credential preferred .  

• Prior healthcare or hospital experience preferred.  

• Experience supporting a unionized workforce or willingness to learn labor relations principles preferred.  

• Experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred.  

• Valid driver's license  preferred .
